I've been coming here for years! I always like to stop in while on vacation. When we arrived there was no one at the hostess stand. Finally someone came to seat us. We were definitely the youngest people in there. We started with the new nachos which were very good! I got the fried chicken, which was ok. The house salad was delicious, perfect Ranch dressing! They have a wide variety of food at reasonable prices. If you want peanuts now you have to ask. Service was slow but I feel like it always is here. Maybe they're on southern time..? Basically we came in for a quick dinner before Bingo. For 3 adult meals, 3 sodas and the appetizer it was about $70 so maybe not the cheapest but depends on your price range.

The Tootsy Rolls were great! Shrimp and cream cheese all wrapped up and deep fried like a giant Crab Rangoon. So tasty. Normal selection of draft beers, nothing special or interesting, but at least you could choose between two sizes. The chicken avocado salad looked and tasted like bagged lettuce. Not fresh or delicious, just passable. I had the combo dinner with pulled pork and burnt ends with a side of baked beans and grilled veggies. The burnt ends were good but the pulled pork was mostly fat. They were not large portions for the price. The grilled veggies were not hot when they came out, but the baked beans were good. Overall it was a subpar dinner saved only by a tall draft and some delicious tootsy rolls. This was our first time there, so I will give it one more chance before I relegate it to the never going back to list

Oh dear... how bad can a place get? This is a big step down from Outback, and I think Outback is horrible. 7:30 at night should be a great time to visit a restaurant in Port Charlotte seeing a majority of the patrons are long gone. The place was 2/3 empty and clearing out fast. By the time I was seated there was only one other table with customers in my section and the rest of the restaurant was equally deserted except for the bar. That means the food will come fast! Whenever I'm in a new restaurant I always as the waitress what her favorite thing is and if it's the best thing on the menu. If the staff loves it then you have much higher odds that your item is going to be cooked better than most any other item on the menu. I ordered what my energetic waitress suggested... The Flat Iron steak done medium rare along with grilled veggies and a baked sweet potato. What I got was a tiny little piece of meat drenched in some kind of thick overly sweet sauce that chewed like a ball of over seasoned rubber bands. I polished off my sweet potato, which was done well, and started on my grilled veggies when the waitress made it back around. When she heard out bad the steak was she quickly scooped it up and left for the kitchen. 5 minutes later she was back with a new steak. It hit the table and she was gone. Not a good sign when you figure there's only one other table with customers, but whatever. As my knife hit the steak and it bounced like a bowl of jello I knew I was in trouble. This time I cut into the deepest purple blob of meat I've seen in a long time. This thing has been flash fried at best, barely searing the outside. It was a good 10 minutes this time before I saw my waitress again. I shook my head and turned the steak for her to see. "Oh God! They didn't even cook it this time" she said, and off she went to the kitchen again. Don't get me wrong here.... Even a decent restaurant doesn't always nail a steak perfectly the first time, and an inexperienced cook will almost always under cook an over cooked steak teh second time just being overly cautious, but what happened next is what makes this such a poor restaurant. Out came the manager, not a bad thing, in fact I gave him a few points for coming out as he should have after failing so badly twice before. He didn't say a word. They set down the steak and I cut it as they stood over my shoulder. As soon as the knife when through the steak the manager said, "That's cooked right and I can tell it's tender enough from the way the knife cut." And with that declaration telling me what I should think of the steak he walked away. I get it when a place messes the food up. That happens. For instance the grilled veggies tasted like fish either because the oil they used was old, or because they cook fish on the same grill and don't clean it well enough. But when a manager does not take the time to let a customer know they matter... well then you have a problem. I don't need you to kiss my backside, but after you've messed up my dinner and left me waiting time and again, at least have the decency to apologize. If this were a real Steak place, and it clearly isn't, a good manager would have comped the meal. I didn't expect that to happen and didn't ask for it. What I did expect was some kind of decent treatment after having my dinner ruined. The last steak was cooked well, however it was now 30 minutes later since being served bread, my drink, veggies, bad tasting as they were, and a sweet potato. Who really wants a piece of rare meat with globs of sweet sauce on it after that much time? All I really wanted was some kind of recognition that this isn't how they usually run things. The couple at table next to me laughed when he walked away and the gentlemen said, I'd give you some of my Chicken Rangoon with Shrimp, but I didn't even know there was shrimp in it until the waitress told me. They must have been extra shrimpie shrimp because I couldn't find them. The steak earns a 3 out of 10 at best. The veggies earn a 1 out of 10. The sweet potato earns all points but really, you almost have to use a flame thrower and gasoline to ruin a sweet potato. I will not be back. Obviously I should have listened to other reviewers who said the same thing. When a place has multiple bad reviews combined with only a few great reviews, you know the someone at the restaurant took time time write the only decent reviews rather than spending their time learning how to do a better job.

I came to the establishment for the first time for my High School Graduation Dinner. It was just not good. Fast forward more than a decade later and I see that Whiskey Creek is still open. It got me to thinking: "Maybe I had a bad experience." "Maybe they were having a really bad day." "If they've been open this long, that means people are returning and the food HAS to have improved." It was a Saturday night when we decided to return. I had already called for their hours and was told the kitchen closes between 1030-1100pm. We arrived at 830pm. We waited at the front for several minutes without seeing a host; I should have taken this as a sign, but I ignored my intuition and searched for someone to seat our party of three. We were seated in a far off room, in a corner, far away from anyone else. This was the second sign I ignored. We took to our menus and had our entire meal planned. That is when we realized that we hadn't seen a server. We'd been seated for over fifteen minutes without seeing a server. The third sign that I ignored. After finding a server, we were able to put in our full order: Appetizer sampler Chopped steak dinner Triple treat Chicken dinner The full details of what we ordered are not important because the server returned to tell us that the kitchen was out of many different things because they were shutting down. The kitchen that is open until 1030pm was shutting down at 845pm? We went through two more rounds until we finally found items that were not out for the day. None of the food we received was good. Some was, at best, mediocre. All of the items that I would ever consider eating again were on the appetizer plate. The barbecue was the worst I have ever eaten. I don't say that lightly; I have eaten A LOT of barbecue at a lot of different places and I am EXTREMELY forgiving of the genre because of how much I love barbecue, but this food was disgusting. All of the meats had the texture and taste of being chemically cured before being overcooked after which they are slathered in a reddish sugar sauce. The taste of liquid smoke and sugar was prominent throughout the entire dinner. The rubberiness of it all was just too much. We did not finish the meal. I cannot put into words how sorry I am for the people that only know barbecue from this place. The fact that this establishment is part of a chain shouldn't have surprised me. I will never return.

I've eaten here on several occasions, only because I used to live in the area and it was close by. The first time I was not impressed with the steak, or service. However, something about the seasoning gnawed at me and made me keep going back. The food overall is a 3. The steaks are better than Outback, but not as good as you could make at home. The sides have never impressed me. They also have some barbecue on menu, but I've never gotten around to trying any of it. The ambience is dark, but suitable for a steakhouse, so I give it a 4. The service has always been horrendous, that gets a rating of 2. I'm probably being a bit generous with my rating of 3.

I'm not sure where some of you ate at, but I have always had good food. Ate at one in S. Dakota and really liked it also. Go to this one every time we are in Florida.

Had dinner today at Whiskey Creek and we definitely will be back for more! Started with the Wedgies (loaded potatoes) which were a 1/2 price special - they were delicious! Crispy, not greasy, more than enough cheese and green onions with a dipping sauce that didn't overpower the thick cut potatoe wedges. I had the Hoss Burger (cheese and bacon) with seasoned fries and hubby had the French Dip (cheese and sautéed mushrooms) with seasoned fries. Both were absolutely delicious, served piping hot. Our server Sarah H was great and we would certainly ask to be seated in her section again. Reasonably priced (including beverages dinner for two was $33), great service and delicious food - winner all the way around!

Meals were good (Ribs & Pasta) 8/10 but our dining room waitress had zero personality & came across as rather arrogant. We found her so abrupt we won't be back! Very unfortunate as the atmosphere of the place could be enjoyable if you could feel more welcome!

Initial impression upon entering, run down and smelly. They were not busy at all but it took a really long time to get waited on and drink glasses sat empty for most of the meal. We ordered the Jim Beam steak and it was absolutely the worst steak I have ever eaten! It was was overcooked (I ordered medium) and the flavor was terrible. I assume we went on a bad night and the service is not typically that bad however I will not be eating here again.

Wasn't bad BBQ so given the location the options are limited as it is.

Horrible service and horrible food. We ordered a full slab of St. Louis style ribs (we are from St. Louis so we know good ribs). They were actually cold--not even lukewarm. When we brought it to the attention of the waitress, she apologized and took the plate away--only to come back a few minutes later with nuked, dried ribs that were tough. We ordered sides of mashed potatoes and the mac & cheese. Again, these items were cold and we sent them back as well. Came back nuked and the noodles were so hard and dry. Disgusting. Manager came by to apologize but no mention of any adjustment in our bill. When the waitress brought our bill, I checked it over and, of course, no adjustment made. I asked why and she said she would discuss it with the manager. She brought the bill back with a 10% adjustment--$4.00. Really? I would never, ever return to this restaurant. Food was very bad and we wasted $40 on what we thought would be a good meal. And their prices seemed quite high as well. My first thought after we ordered drinks and looked at the menu was to leave. Should have trusted my instincts. Don't know how this place stays in business. Amy N.

I can make a better steak on my grill. The only thing I really liked was you can make s'mores over a mini camp fire they bring to your table. Very unique!

First time visiting this area. This was supposed to be one of the better restaurants around but dinner last night was very disappointing. This place advertises its wood fire grill so we were looking forward to having bbq ribs & half chicken but couldn't get either supposedly because of a small wedding party or something wrong with the grill. I really couldn't understand why we couldn't get some of the regular items on the menu. I was told I could get the half chicken but it would be microwaved. Yuk!! Instead I received a very small dry boneless chicken breast with sauce. Another person in our party had asparagus that was barely cooked. My boyfriend did not like his dish either, the same dry chicken breast and brisket. Even though they ended up taking 10% off the check (because we complained to the waitress), I do not recommend this place.

It smelled (bad) when we walked in. I developed a new steakhouse rule.... When the signature steak is sirloin don't have the T-bone- my wife had the sirloin that sucked at a cheaper price than my grade ?? Tough unmarbled T-bone... This place does not get a second try. Sorry folks I write-um like I see them. Waffle House has a better T-bone Waffle Wa

When I make the trip down south to visit the family in North Port, we go out to eat quite often. The past two times I have been to Florida, the family has taken me to Whiskey Creek. During my last trip to FLORIDA, a week ago, the second trip to the Whiskey, we went to celebrate my Mom's birthday - her choice. Our party of 4 was seated immediately. The place was pretty empty considering it was dinner time (but the "snow birds" don't make their landing to the southern nest until November). The service was decent, even though we did ask for refills on the drinks twice before getting them, and we never did get th second loaf of bread that my Aunt had asked for. I ordered the Pan Seared Tilapia with pineapple salsa. It was seriously the best fish dish I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. The veggie kababs on the side were so good that I could have just eaten a whole plate of them and been just fine. Everyone else seemed pretty satisfied with their dishes as well, as we all finished them, with no room for dessert. (Birthday cake was waiting back at the house anyway). We did have some entertainment while there (as this stuff seems to find me) ... an elderly couple with their grown children were there. We got to listen to the son treat his elderly, handicapped father with absolutely no respect. Boo to him!! I'll be definitely making a third trip back to Whiskey Creek the next time I am in town. Plus I gotta see if that cutey that was outside on his cigarette break, trying to pick me up, will still be working here ;)
